Most people think the yips are in your head. They're not. They start in your mechanics — and that means they can be fixed.
The truth about the yips
The yips are one of golf's most misunderstood conditions. For years, golfers have been told it's a mental problem — anxiety, nerves, a crisis of confidence. They've tried breathing exercises, sports psychologists, hypnosis. And most of the time, nothing works.
That's because they're treating the symptom, not the cause. The yips are a mechanical issue that manifests itself as a mental problem. When your technique breaks down in a specific way under pressure, your brain triggers a protective response — and that's what you feel as the yips.
Fix the mechanics. Fix the root cause. The yips go away. It's that simple — and that's exactly what The Yip Project is built to do.
Fix the root cause of the issue, and you fix the yip. No magic — just mechanics.
— Louis Savill, Short Game Specialist
Who it's for
It doesn't matter if you're a scratch amateur, a weekend golfer, or a touring professional. The yips can affect anyone, at any level, in any part of the short game. If you've got them — this programme is for you.
Tour & elite players
Professionals whose putting or chipping has broken down under competitive pressure. The yips end careers — but they don't have to.
Club & amateur golfers
Golfers who dread certain shots, freeze over the ball, or feel their hands twitch involuntarily. Whatever the handicap — the cause and the fix are the same.
Any area of the game
Putting yips, chipping yips, pitching yips — the specific shot doesn't matter. The mechanical diagnosis approach works across all areas of the short game.
How it works
Diagnosis
The first session is all about finding the root cause. Using video, Trackman, SAM PuttLab, and Capto — we identify exactly where the mechanics are breaking down and triggering the response.
Technical rebuild
Once we know the cause, we fix it. Session by session we rebuild the technical pattern that's causing the yips — replacing the flawed movement with one that holds up under pressure.
Mental framework
The psychological element matters too — but only once the mechanics are right. We build routines, pressure tools, and on-course strategies that give you complete confidence over the ball.
On-course freedom
The final stage is taking the work onto the course. Practice conditions are not enough — we simulate real competitive pressure so that when it counts, you're ready.
